EPL: Rooney blames Salah, Van Dijk for Liverpool’s poor form

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has criticised Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk following the team’s recent struggles in the Premier League. The Reds have lost their last four league matches, leaving fans and analysts concerned about the club’s performance. Rooney believes the lack of leadership from key players is affecting the team’s overall output.

Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Brentford has left the club in seventh place, seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. Rooney highlighted that the team’s leaders, Salah and Van Dijk, may not be providing the necessary guidance on the pitch, despite recently signing new contracts. “Their body language tells you a lot, and it seems slightly different from previous seasons,” Rooney stated.

According to Rooney, Salah’s current form is a “big concern” for Liverpool, as the team relies heavily on his attacking prowess. He warned that without strong leadership from their top players, Liverpool’s performance could continue to decline. The former striker emphasised that leadership on the pitch is as important as individual talent.

Rooney added that the attitude and commitment of star players like Van Dijk and Salah influence the confidence and performance of the rest of the squad. “If their body language is not right, it affects everyone else. Fans and managers need to be concerned if top players aren’t leading by example,” he said.

Liverpool now faces increasing pressure to turn their season around. Fans and analysts are watching closely to see if Salah and Van Dijk can step up and provide the leadership needed to return the Reds to their winning ways in the Premier League.
