Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has declared that the Premier League title is now Arsenal’s to lose this season. The Gunners are currently enjoying excellent form, maintaining a four-point lead at the top of the table and staying ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool by six and seven points respectively.
Speaking on his podcast, Mikel Obi, who had previously questioned Arsenal’s mentality, admitted that Mikel Arteta’s team now looks like the strongest squad in Europe. He praised their depth and ability to win games despite injuries to key players.
“Martinelli is coming off the bench and winning them games. Eze is coming off the bench too. Merino and Havertz are injured, Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus are out, yet they’re still winning. It’s frightening,” Mikel said.
He emphasized that Arteta’s squad depth and tactical awareness have made Arsenal serious title contenders. According to him, the club’s resilience despite injuries shows how much progress they have made in recent years.
Mikel concluded that Arteta fully understands the opportunity before him and that the 2025 Premier League title is Arsenal’s to lose if they continue their current form and maintain focus through the final months of the season.
