The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended four suspects, including a woman, in connection with the brutal killing of a young man who was allegedly lured into a trap by his girlfriend. The shocking incident occurred on October 4, 2025, in Gidan Kacha, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmed Rufa’i, the victim, Ali Salisu, a resident of Darnawa village, was deceived by his girlfriend, Rukayya Amadu, into visiting her. Unknown to him, Rukayya had allegedly conspired with another lover, Hamisu Ibrahim, to rob and kill him. Police investigations revealed that the suspects led the unsuspecting victim to Dabagi bush, where Hamisu reportedly strangled him with a rope before stealing his red Kasea motorcycle.
Further findings showed that the stolen motorcycle was taken to Sokoto town, where Lawali Abdullahi and Ibrahim Abdullahi allegedly received it without verifying its ownership. All four suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody. They will be charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and receiving stolen property, according to the police.
The Commissioner of Police commended the investigative team for their swift action and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice. He described the incident as a sad reminder of the need for personal vigilance and security awareness, urging the public to stay alert and cautious.
The police further called on residents to report suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest police station. They assured citizens that efforts are ongoing to maintain peace and safety through community partnership and proactive policing across the state.
