The Lagos State Police Command has been thrown into mourning following the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Festac Division.
Reports confirm that the respected officer passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at an undisclosed hospital in the Surulere area of Lagos State. Her death has left a void in the command, as she was regarded as one of its most vibrant and dedicated officers.
Before her posting to Festac Division, CSP Ngbaronye served as the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Police Command, where she earned praise for her professionalism, discipline, and commitment to effective policing and public communication.
Tributes have continued to pour in from her colleagues, subordinates, and residents of the Festac community, who described her as a compassionate leader, an excellent officer, and a source of inspiration to many within the police force.
Her passing marks a significant loss to the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos State Command, as many remember her for her tireless service and unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order in the state.
