‘Don’t destroy leaders God has raised’ – Gov Eno warns against attacks on Akpabio’s family

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has cautioned the youths in the state against attacking or making false allegations against the family of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. The governor emphasized the need for respect toward leaders and urged young people to handle disagreements peacefully.

Governor Eno issued the warning after members of the Akwa Ibom Youth Coalition staged a peaceful protest at the Government House, Uyo, on Tuesday. The protest was linked to issues raised by a female member of the Greater Akpabio family. The group’s letter of concern was received by the Head of Service, Effiong Essien, on behalf of the governor.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno said that while citizens have the right to express their opinions, family matters should not be made public in a way that could damage the reputation of respected leaders. He called on the youths to act responsibly and avoid actions that could cause unnecessary division.

“We don’t interfere in family issues that should be settled privately,” the governor said. “Our young people must not destroy the leaders God has raised for us by spreading unfounded allegations or disrespecting them.”

Governor Eno further highlighted the importance of unity, civility, and mutual respect across political lines, stressing that Akwa Ibom’s leaders are valuable assets to the state. He reminded the public that Senator Akpabio’s position as Senate President brings pride and recognition to Akwa Ibom and should be treated with utmost respect. He urged the youths to always seek peaceful dialogue in resolving disputes, as peace remains key to the state’s progress.
