Nasarawa United head coach, Mbwas Mangut, has remained positive despite his team’s 2-0 loss to Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday. The defeat brought an end to the Solid Miners’ seven-match unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking after the game, Mangut praised his players for their efforts and expressed confidence that the team will return to winning ways in their upcoming fixtures. He noted that football is unpredictable, and occasional setbacks are part of a long league season.
“Like I always say, the league is a marathon. It comes with highs and lows, and today was one of those unfortunate days where we couldn’t get points,” Mangut said. “We are not under any pressure. Our supporters have seen our progress over the last few games, and we’ll continue to build on that.”
Despite the defeat, Nasarawa United remain at the top of the NPFL table with 19 points from nine matches — a sign of consistency and determination in their title challenge. Mangut acknowledged that Ikorodu City were sharp and took advantage of their scoring chances but insisted his side would “regroup and come back stronger.”
The Solid Miners will now shift focus to their next crucial clash against Rivers United in Port Harcourt, where they hope to get back to winning ways and strengthen their lead in the league standings.
