Wikki Tourists’ technical adviser, Abdullahi Maikaba, has expressed disappointment after his team suffered a 2-1 defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors in their NPFL matchday nine clash.
El-Kanemi Warriors took an early lead through Emmanuel Jonas and Samaila Bello, leaving Wikki Tourists trailing 2-0 within the first half. Abdullahi Usman managed to pull one back for the Bauchi-based side, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
Speaking after the match, Maikaba praised his players’ efforts despite the loss, insisting they deserved more from the game. “We played very well and deserved more from this game,” he said. “I commend my players for their fighting spirit and determination. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t get at least a point.”
The result means Wikki Tourists have now gone six games without a win, a worrying streak for the team’s supporters. Maikaba urged his players to remain focused as they aim to turn their season around.
The Bauchi Elephants currently sit 16th on the NPFL table with just nine points, and will be hoping to bounce back in their next fixture to avoid slipping into the relegation zone.
