The Gombe State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes with the arrest of a major cross-border kidnapping syndicate. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, revealed that operatives of Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki, apprehended a key suspect, Adamu Adamu, a 30-year-old man from Adamawa State, after a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to Abdullahi, the suspect was arrested on October 4, 2025, following credible information linking him to several kidnapping incidents across Nigeria and Cameroon. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to belonging to a larger criminal network responsible for multiple abductions for ransom. He also revealed that their arms and ammunition were hidden in a mountainous area near Wuro Biriji Village in Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
A follow-up police operation conducted on October 5, 2025, at the identified location, led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, eighty rounds of live ammunition, seven magazines, a knife, chains with padlocks, and four small bags believed to be used for ransom operations. The suspect remains in police custody as efforts continue to track down other members of the gang who are still at large.
The Gombe Police Command emphasized that the arrest marks another success under its intelligence-driven policing strategy. DSP Abdullahi assured residents that the command remains committed to maintaining peace and security across the state. He also commended the collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities, stressing that such synergy is key to ensuring Gombe remains one of Nigeria’s safest states.
