The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has officially declared Senator Adams Oshiomhole a persona non grata over his recent comments criticizing the union’s leadership and operations.
In a strong statement, NUPENG accused the former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president and former Edo State Governor of making “disrespectful and misleading” remarks about the union’s integrity and role in national development.
The union insisted that Oshiomhole’s comments were politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of an organization that has consistently stood for workers’ rights and industrial peace.
According to NUPENG, the decision to declare Oshiomhole unwelcome at all its events and facilities is meant to protect the dignity of its members and send a clear message that “no one, no matter their past achievements, is above accountability.”
The development has stirred debate across the labour community, with some seeing it as a bold move, while others call for reconciliation between both sides to maintain unity in the Nigerian labour movement.
