New acting INEC chair takes over

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the assumption of duty by its new acting chairman, who officially took over the leadership of the commission in Abuja. The change in leadership follows the temporary absence of the substantive chairman, with the acting chair stepping in to ensure continuity in INEC’s operations and preparations for upcoming elections.

During the brief handover ceremony, the acting chairman pledged to uphold transparency, fairness, and integrity in all electoral activities. He assured Nigerians that the commission remains committed to improving the credibility of elections and strengthening public confidence in the process.

Senior officials of the commission who attended the ceremony expressed confidence in the new acting chair’s ability to lead effectively, citing his years of experience and deep understanding of Nigeria’s electoral system.

The new INEC leadership will focus on completing ongoing reforms, improving logistics, and ensuring that technology continues to play a vital role in the country’s democratic process.
