The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed down two Chinese-owned supermarkets and eight cosmetics shops in Abuja. The agency explained that the action followed inspections that revealed the businesses were selling unregistered and potentially harmful products to the public.
NAFDAC officials said the operation was part of its wider effort to protect consumers from fake, substandard, and unsafe items. According to the agency, some of the products sold in these shops had no proper labels or approvals, raising concerns about health and safety.
The agency stressed its commitment to safeguarding Nigerians, warning that it will not tolerate businesses that compromise public health. NAFDAC also urged consumers to always check products for proper registration numbers and authenticity before use.
