The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested five suspected human traffickers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The suspects were allegedly attempting to move young Nigerians out of the country under suspicious circumstances before security officials intercepted them.
According to reports, the operation was part of NAPTIP’s intensified efforts to curb human trafficking, which has remained a major challenge in Nigeria. Officials revealed that the suspects were profiled and taken into custody for further investigation, while the victims were rescued and placed under protection.
The arrest has been praised as another strong step in Nigeria’s fight against trafficking syndicates. NAPTIP has also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to help protect vulnerable citizens, especially women and children, from exploitation.
