FCT police commissioner speaks on Arise TV anchor, Sommie Maduagwu’s demise

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has confirmed that Arise TV reporter, Sommie Maduagwu, tragically died after jumping from her third-floor apartment during a robbery attack in Katampe, Abuja, on Monday, September 29.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, CP Adewale explained the events that led to her death. According to him, armed robbers invaded Unique Apartment, a twin three-storey building with 18 flats, where Sommie lived. The apartment is located in the Mabuchi divisional area of Katampe.

He revealed that two security guards were on duty that night, and one of them was shot while trying to stop the attackers. In the panic and fear caused by the robbery, Sommie, who lived on the top floor of the building, jumped from her apartment. Unfortunately, the fall left her badly injured.

Adewale added that the police control room received a distress call, and officers rushed to the scene. They found Sommie unconscious on the ground and quickly took her to Maitama General Hospital. Doctors attempted to revive her through CPR, but sadly, she did not survive.

The Commissioner described the incident as tragic and promised that an investigation team has been set up to track down the robbers and bring them to justice.
