Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has kicked off a series of town hall meetings across the state as part of preparations for the 2026 budget. The move is aimed at ensuring inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in government planning. By meeting directly with citizens, the governor is giving the people an opportunity to share their needs and priorities, which will guide how funds are allocated in the coming year.
During the first sessions, Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the budget is not just a government document but a people’s roadmap for development. He explained that the administration is committed to grassroots participation, noting that residents, community leaders, youth, women, and stakeholders from different sectors must have a say in shaping the future of Ekiti.
The meetings also provided a platform for citizens to voice their concerns about infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and job creation. Stakeholders applauded the governor for adopting a bottom-up approach, stressing that such engagement will help government avoid wasteful spending and focus on projects that have direct impact on the people.
Governor Oyebanji assured participants that every suggestion and request made during the town hall series will be carefully reviewed and reflected in the 2026 fiscal plan. He further promised to sustain open governance, urging citizens to hold his administration accountable as they work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Ekiti State.
