FG Goes After Certificate Forgers

The Federal Government (FG) has launched a strong crackdown on people using fake certificates to secure jobs, admissions, and other opportunities in Nigeria. Authorities say the move is part of wider reforms to sanitize the education sector and restore credibility to the country’s institutions.

Government agencies have been directed to carry out thorough certificate verification exercises across ministries, departments, and agencies. Anyone found guilty of forging documents will face dismissal, prosecution, and possible jail terms.

Officials explained that the menace of certificate forgery not only affects genuine graduates but also undermines Nigeria’s image globally. The FG has therefore promised strict punishment to deter others from engaging in the crime.

This new push comes as cases of fake foreign and local certificates continue to surface, raising concerns about professionalism and standards in the country.
