Tragedy has struck the University of Lagos community as Balogun Damilola, the President of the Faculty of Education Students’ Association (FESA), reportedly drowned at a Lagos beach.
According to reports, Damilola had gone to the beach with some friends when the unfortunate incident occurred. Eyewitnesses said efforts were made to rescue him, but he was eventually swept away by the strong waves. His sudden death has left students and staff of UNILAG in shock and mourning.
Tributes have been pouring in from colleagues, friends, and fellow students who described him as a vibrant leader, passionate about student welfare and academic progress. Many say his passing is a painful loss not only to the Faculty of Education but also to the entire UNILAG student body.
Authorities are said to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, while student groups have called for greater awareness about beach safety in Lagos.
