NDLEA Destroys Five Hectares Cannabis Farm In Plateau State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered and destroyed a five-hectare cannabis farm in Magama District, Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State. Two suspects linked to the farm were arrested during the operation.

According to NDLEA State Commander, CN Anthony Gotar, the farm was destroyed immediately, and investigations are ongoing. He noted that this operation came just weeks after another cannabis farm was discovered in Mangu, showing a disturbing rise in cannabis cultivation in Plateau State.

Commander Gotar called on the public, especially transport operators, to support NDLEA officers during security checks and to remain vigilant against drug-related crimes.

This latest bust is part of the NDLEA’s wider crackdown across Nigeria. In Cross River State, a 30-hectare cannabis farm was destroyed, and 191 suspects were arrested for drug offenses between January and June 2025. Similarly, in Edo State, the agency destroyed two farms covering 0.78 hectares and arrested 39 suspected traffickers.

These actions reinforce the NDLEA’s determination to fight drug cultivation, trafficking, and abuse across the country.
