PDP NWC directs S’South Zonal Caretaker Committee to oversee Cross River chapter

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed its South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee to immediately take charge of the party’s affairs in Cross River State.

According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the directive followed the expiration of the tenure of the elected Cross River State Executive Committee on September 18, 2025. He explained that the move became necessary to avoid a vacuum in leadership before the election of a new state executive.

The South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, led by Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has been mandated to work closely with the NWC to ensure the smooth conduct of the state congress scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025. The congress will produce a new executive committee to steer the affairs of the party in the state.

The PDP also called on its leaders, stakeholders, and members in Cross River to remain united and committed to the progress of the party. Ologunagba stressed that unity and cooperation among members are essential to strengthening the PDP ahead of future political engagements in the state.
