Tinubu mourns victims of Lagos Island fire

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fire outbreak that occurred on Tuesday at the Afriland Building on Broad Street, Lagos Island.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president also sympathized with organizations affected by the tragic incident, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, and Afriland Properties Limited.

Describing the incident as painful, Tinubu prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wished those who sustained injuries a quick recovery. He also praised the efforts of emergency responders — including the Federal Fire Service, health workers, and concerned citizens — for their swift intervention in rescue operations.

The president called on individuals and organizations to prioritize safety precautions, vigilance, and regular training, stressing that these measures are vital to preventing such tragedies in the future. “May God Almighty comfort the bereaved families, receive the souls of the departed, and grant quick healing to the injured,” Tinubu said.
