FCT: I’ll write your condolence letter – Wike reacts to rumours of heart attack

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media that he suffered a heart attack while in London.

Speaking at the flag-off of the Arterial Road N1 construction from Wuye District to Ring Road II in Abuja on Thursday, Wike clarified that he only traveled abroad to take a break and rest. He criticized those spreading the false news, joking that they would be the ones to suffer a heart attack instead.

“Since I became minister, I haven’t had time to travel. This time, I decided to go on holiday without files or documents, just to rest. But before I knew it, stories came out that I was sick and had a heart attack. God will continue to help them have heart attacks because I am fine,” he said.

Wike further expressed concern about the culture of misinformation in Nigeria, where false stories are easily circulated on social media. He urged Nigerians to be more responsible, noting that politics should not be reduced to spreading lies. He added humorously that he is ready to write condolence letters for those wishing him ill, while praying for strength to continue his service to the country.
