The Embassy of Qatar in Nigeria has dismissed online rumors that claimed the country has introduced tougher visa rules for Nigerians who want to travel.
A ministry official told BBC Pidgin on Wednesday, September 10, that there are no new restrictions for Nigerians applying for visas to Qatar.
This clarification comes after viral reports alleged that Nigerians must now meet strict conditions before securing a visa.
The false claims included compulsory return flight bookings, hotel reservations, limiting visa applications to only women or families, and even a rule that visitors must stay in a 5-star hotel.
The Embassy described these reports as false and urged Nigerians to rely only on information released through its official communication channels for accurate travel updates.
