Man arrested after stabbing teacher and student at school in France

A shocking incident took place at a horticultural school in Antibes, southern France, where a man stabbed a teacher and a student. Police confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday, September 10.

Authorities stated that the attacker was quickly detained and no longer posed any danger to others.

Police revealed that the suspect had once been a student at the same school. However, the reason behind the attack has not yet been disclosed.

Investigators remain at the Campus Vert D’azur as they continue to gather details surrounding the incident.

According to Mayor Jean Leonetti, three people were injured during the attack. While one victim suffered more serious wounds, officials confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

French newspaper Le Monde reported that the teacher was badly injured, while the student sustained only minor wounds.

Mayor Leonetti addressed the public on X (formerly Twitter), condemning the violent act. He praised the courage of the school principal and staff who helped subdue the attacker. He also expressed gratitude to emergency services for their swift action.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene in Antibes, a town in southeastern France known for its historic fortifications and luxury harbor.

France’s Agriculture Minister strongly condemned the incident and announced she would visit the school immediately. She emphasized that schools must remain safe spaces where violence is never tolerated.

Regional senator Alexandra Borchio-Fontimp also shared her sympathy for the victims. She thanked security forces for their quick response, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
