Former Ghanaian football star Asamoah Gyan has accused Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen of faking an injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
He believes the forward only acted hurt so he could avoid risking himself ahead of Galatasaray’s Champions League matches.
Osimhen left the pitch in the first half of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo after a clash with Niyomugabo.
Because of that, he was also unavailable for Nigeria’s next game, which ended in a 1-1 draw against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
In an interview with habersarikirmizi, Gyan insisted that the former Napoli striker was not really injured. He suggested that the incident was staged to keep the player safe for club duties in Europe.
According to Gyan, this is a common trick in football. He said Osimhen may have been told, “We invested a lot in you, and the Champions League is close.
We don’t want you getting hurt in Africa. Play for a bit, then act injured and stay down. By the next day, you’ll be back in Türkiye.”
