Brazilian Billionaire leaves entire fortune to Neymar despite never meeting the football star

A Brazilian billionaire, who reportedly never met Neymar, has left his entire fortune to the football star.

The former Barcelona forward, 33, is said to inherit a massive sum of £846 million from the late businessman. The billionaire’s identity has not been revealed.

Local Brazilian news outlet RIC reports that the will was officially registered at an office in Porto Alegre and confirmed on June 12 with two witnesses present.

Before Neymar can officially receive the inheritance, Brazilian courts must review and approve the will. Reports suggest the billionaire may have chosen Neymar because he is single and has no children.

Neymar has not publicly spoken about the inheritance, and the will could face legal challenges even if approved. According to local media, the businessman felt a personal connection with Neymar. He admired the player’s strong family ties, particularly his bond with his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father.

The footballer recently returned to Brazil to rejoin his boyhood club Santos in January, after a short spell with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal. During the second half of the 2024-25 season, he scored three goals in 14 games. In his first stint with Santos from 2009 to 2013, Neymar scored 136 goals in 225 matches.
