A tragic accident occurred in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) when a middle-aged woman named Ramatu was crushed while riding a motorcycle back from her farm in Abaji Area Council.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Daily Trust, the accident happened around 5:12 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, near the Con Oil filling station.
The witness explained that the trailer, coming from the Lokoja direction, tried to avoid a pothole but lost control, crushing the woman and injuring the motorcycle rider.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors confirmed that she had died. The motorcyclist who was injured is currently receiving medical care.
A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official, who was involved in the rescue, confirmed that the woman was initially alive when rescued but passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The trailer driver, who initially ran away from the scene, was later caught near Gada Buyi village and handed over to the police.
He is now in custody, and authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
