Taraba deputy governor returns after long absence

The Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Aminu Alkali, has returned to Jalingo, the state capital, after being away for several months.

Alkali had not been seen in office for the past eight months, sparking rumours that he was dealing with an undisclosed health issue.

After this long absence, he is now back to resume his official duties. According to Daily Trust, he arrived at Yalo Airport from Abuja and was taken to his official residence at the Government House in a convoy of four vehicles.

A short video of his arrival has been shared on social media, showing him back in the state after the long break. An official from the Deputy Governor’s office, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that Alkali entered his office on Tuesday, August 26, and stayed briefly.

“It was today that I was told the Deputy Governor had returned to Jalingo without prior notice. I didn’t see him personally when I entered the office, but I was told he met with some senior officers for a short while,” the official said.
