Hairstylist and skit maker, Austin Bature, killed by suspected cultists after farewell post

A young hairstylist and skit maker, identified as Austin Bature, has been brutally murdered by suspected cult members in Lakowe, a community in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

Reports revealed that the suspected cultists stormed the neighborhood in the early hours of Thursday, targeting Austin.

When they found his home, the attackers reportedly dragged him out of his room and killed him instantly with machetes.

According to a resident who spoke to Punch but requested anonymity for safety, Austin’s killers also cut off his hand during the attack.

The resident explained that there was unusual noise in the area that morning, but no one knew what was happening until later. It was then discovered that Austin’s body had been dumped nearby, and one of his hands was missing, confirming fears of a cult-related killing.

Another neighbor revealed that Austin had shared a disturbing farewell message on his WhatsApp status two days earlier, suggesting he had a premonition of his death.

He was well-known in the community as a talented hairstylist and skit maker, with several friends in the entertainment industry. Those close to him believe his final message showed he was aware of the looming danger.
