Teyana Taylor ordered to pay ex-husband Iman Shumpert $70,000 after she’s found in contempt of court

Teyana Taylor has been ordered to pay her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert, $70,000 after a court ruled she violated their divorce agreement.

The ruling came after both attended a hearing on July 25 over who broke the terms of their 2024 divorce settlement.

The judge sided with Shumpert’s claim that Taylor breached their agreement by sharing details about the divorce in a March Instagram video.

The agreement clearly stated that neither of them was allowed to disclose any information about the judgment.

Taylor had accused Shumpert of leaking divorce details to the press, but the court ruled she did not provide enough evidence to prove her allegations.

Court documents also revealed that Taylor refused to answer questions about her income and assets, insisting the information was irrelevant to the matter at hand.

As a result, the judge ordered Taylor to pay $70,000 to cover Shumpert’s legal fees and denied her request for him to pay her legal expenses.

However, the case was not a complete loss for Taylor, as the judge rejected Shumpert’s request to have her found in contempt for allegedly violating their parenting plan.

Taylor secretly filed for divorce in January 2023, claiming Shumpert was jealous, emotionally abusive, and insecure about her success. She described his behavior as cruel and narcissistic for most of their marriage.

Shumpert denied the claims in his own court filing later that year and asked the court to change the reason for divorce to “irretrievable broken bond” instead of “cruel treatment.” He argued that she had no evidence to show he made her feel unsafe.

The pair, who married in October 2016, share two daughters together — 9-year-old Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. and 4-year-old Rue Rose Shumpert.
