Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), has apologized after making a statement about the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) that upset many people.
The apology came after backlash over remarks about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, who was the first General Evangelist of CAC.
In one of his sermons, Fatoyinbo spoke highly of Babalola’s spiritual power but added that his “grace” did not continue because he lacked wealth.
After the public outcry, Fatoyinbo said his words were misunderstood and taken out of context, insisting that some people only picked part of what he said.
He prayed for Babalola’s legacy to keep growing and asked that the matter be put to rest.
Fatoyinbo made it clear that he never spoke badly about Apostle Babalola or his children and said anyone can confirm this by listening to the full sermon online.
He emphasized that he has great respect for Apostle Babalola, his family, and his ministry, and would never look down on them.
The COZA pastor added that if any of his words caused pain to the CAC, Babalola’s family, or his followers, he was truly sorry.
He also promised that he would never disrespect Apostle Babalola’s name, either in public or in private.
In closing, Fatoyinbo prayed for the Christ Apostolic Church to keep growing and for the legacy of Apostle Babalola to remain strong for generations to come.
