Retired teacher abducted and k!lled while returning from in Edo

A retired teacher and farmer, Andrew Imuekheme, has lost his life after being attacked by suspected bandits in Edo State.

The incident happened on Tuesday, August 12, in Ikabigbo, a community in Uzairue Kingdom, Etsako West Local Government Area.

According to reports, Andrew was on his way home from his farm when armed men stopped him and dragged him into the bush.

A woman who was also taken by the attackers managed to escape. She rushed back to the village and alerted local vigilantes and hunters, who quickly organized a search team.

Residents working on their farms were called home as news of the incident spread, to prevent more people from being targeted.

During the search, the vigilantes found Andrew’s motorcycle and shoes. Sadly, his body was discovered later that evening after hours of looking.

The traditional ruler of the community, Chief Braimah Alegeh, condemned the killing, calling it a great loss.

He described the people as peaceful farmers and pleaded with the state government and security agencies to step in and restore safety.

This is the third killing of its kind in the area. Two years ago, a Catholic priest and the local hunters’ chairman were killed after the priest was kidnapped.
