Police rescue kidnapped toddler, arrest suspect in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has successfully rescued a 2-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Potiskum and arrested the suspect behind the crime.

The boy’s father reported that his son, Abdulkareem Mohd, had been abducted and that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of N2 million, according to SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson.

After receiving the report, the police quickly tracked the suspect, Abdullahi Aliyu, to Kaduna State and arrested him. Further investigation revealed that he had been involved in similar abductions in other states.

The Yobe State Police said that the kidnapping occurred on July 31, 2025, and commended their officers for acting swiftly to rescue Abdulkareem safely. The suspect, a 24-year-old man from Kakuri, Kaduna State, was apprehended and is now in custody.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, praised the team’s efforts and urged parents to remain vigilant, watch over their children, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station immediately.

The Yobe State Police emphasized their continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the state.
