Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has stated that Chelsea will not win the Premier League unless they change their current goalkeeper.

The former defender argued that the Blues must replace Robert Sanchez during the summer transfer window if they are serious about challenging for the English top-flight crown.

Last season, Chelsea finished in fourth place and booked their spot in the Champions League after a tense final day.

The West London club also celebrated success by winning both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

They have strengthened their squad this summer by bringing in new signings including Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Estêvão Willian, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap. However, Carragher believes a world-class goalkeeper is still missing from the lineup.

Speaking on The Overlap, he explained: “Manchester United began winning league titles after signing Peter Schmeichel. Manchester City’s success followed a change of goalkeeper. We at Liverpool brought in Alisson and finally won the league. Chelsea too became champions after signing Petr Cech.”

Carragher concluded that Chelsea’s current squad, regardless of money spent or players signed, cannot win the league without a goalkeeper capable of delivering at the very top level.
