Armed bandits have attacked two workers from Union Bank along the Gusau–Funtua road in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. One was killed while the other was kidnapped during the incident.
The tragic event happened around 2:40 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Kucheri village. The attackers fired at a moving GAC SUG car with the plate number BDG 251 HZ.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the car was carrying two Union Bank employees. They were identified as Zakari Leo, the regional manager, and Muhammad Sani Suleman. Both worked at the Yakubu Gowon Way branch of Union Bank in Kaduna State.
Security teams quickly arrived at the scene after the attack. They searched the nearby bush area and were able to find Mr. Leo alive. Mr. Suleman, who was badly injured by gunfire, was taken to Tsafe General Hospital for urgent medical care.
Sadly, Mr. Suleman was later referred to the specialist hospital in Gusau — Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital — but passed away before getting there.
Sources revealed that Mr. Suleman’s body has been handed over to Union Bank’s Gusau branch for burial arrangements.
