Germany-based Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, has spoken up about a troubling attitude among some Super Eagles players. According to him, a few of his teammates don’t seem to care whether the national team wins or loses their matches.
Boniface believes that playing for Nigeria is a great honor and should not be taken lightly. He encouraged his fellow players to take international games more seriously and give their best every time they wear the national jersey.
He explained that millions of Nigerians are hoping for the chance to play for the country. Because of this, those who already have that opportunity must take it seriously and not waste it.
Speaking on The Culture League podcast, Boniface said that some of his teammates behave as if winning or losing does not matter. He always tries to remind them that Nigeria has a large population, and many talented players are waiting for a chance to represent the nation.
Boniface was expected to move to a club in Saudi Arabia this summer, but the transfer deal reportedly fell through and did not happen as planned.
The 24-year-old will now remain at Bayer Leverkusen, the German club he helped win the Bundesliga title during the 2023–2024 season.
