Tinubu destroying, desecrating Nigeria’s institutions – Aisha Yesufu

Outspoken activist Aisha Yesufu has raised alarm over the direction Nigeria is heading under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. In a post on her X handle on Friday, she accused the president of damaging the country’s institutions.

According to her, President Tinubu is not just interfering with governance but is actively breaking down the foundation of institutions that should remain independent. She warned that these actions could have long-term effects on the nation.

Her reaction came after Tinubu approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. Adeniyi, who was initially scheduled to leave office by August 31, 2025, will now remain in the position until August 2026.

Adeniyi was appointed as the head of the Customs Service in October 2023, following a brief period in an acting capacity. The extension of his term has sparked conversations about the overreach of executive power and the weakening of institutional processes.

Yesufu’s comments add to growing public concern about governance decisions under the current administration.
