The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed it turned down massive sums of money meant to make it leave the opposition coalition in Nigeria.
Ralph Nwosu, the founder and first National Chairman of the ADC, shared this information during a party meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. He said the party remains committed to defending Nigeria’s democracy.
Nwosu explained that many politicians believe money can solve everything. He revealed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) rejected all bribe offers, whether from within Nigeria or abroad, because they stand by democratic principles.
He pointed out that the ADC played a major role in strengthening democratic values through an opposition coalition formed on July 2, calling it a big moment for the country.
Nwosu also appealed to important national bodies like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, and the National Assembly. He urged them to stay strong and support democracy at all times.
He warned that anytime democracy is weakened, institutions like INEC and the National Assembly also lose credibility, and Nigeria as a country suffers. He encouraged everyone to take a stand and help democracy move forward smoothly.
