The Nigerian government hosted a special dinner in Abuja on Monday night to celebrate the Super Falcons for winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The dinner took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and was filled with music and joy. Popular Nigerian singers Flavour, Teni, Timi Dakolo, and Fido performed live to entertain the football stars.
Earlier that day, the Super Falcons were welcomed by President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at the Presidential Banquet Hall. The visit was to recognize their amazing achievement at the tournament.
At the dinner, President Tinubu gave each Super Falcons player $100,000 and honoured them with national awards. He also announced that all players would receive three-bedroom apartments at the Renewed Hope Estate.
Members of the technical team were also appreciated. Each of them was awarded $50,000 in recognition of their work behind the scenes.
The Super Falcons earned their latest title after a tough match against host nation Morocco. They came from behind to win 3–2 in the final held on Saturday, July 26, at the Stade Olympique in Rabat.
It was a night of celebration, music, and national pride as the country celebrated its football heroines in grand style.
