Governor Nwifuru suspends 25 commissioners and 62 officials for snubbing state function

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has taken strict action against some top government officials who missed a recent important government event.

A total of 87 people were suspended, including 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries. This was revealed in a statement shared on Monday night by Monday Uzor, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor.

The statement explained that all those suspended will not be paid for the one-month suspension period. They are also not allowed to sign any official papers during that time. The punishment started immediately.

In addition, the suspended commissioners have been asked to hand over their responsibilities to their respective permanent secretaries.

“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has directed that the listed officials go on a one-month suspension without pay for missing an important government event,” the statement said.

Some of the suspended officials mentioned in the release include Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Professor Leonard Uguru, Dr. Mathew Nwobashi, Professor Nwogo Obasi, Ikeuwa Omebe, Chief Sunday Inyima, and Stanley Ogbuewu.

The governor used this decision to show that he wants discipline in his administration. He expects every public official to take their duties seriously and remain fully committed to serving the people of Ebonyi State.
