President Tinubu is now overfeeding Nigerians with wrong statistics from wrong unemployment figures – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has accused President Bola Tinubu of failing to fulfill his campaign promises and misleading Nigerians with incorrect economic statistics. According to Obi, the Tinubu administration is using wrong data to create a false impression that things are getting better, while many citizens are facing serious hardship.

Obi reminded Nigerians that during the 2022 election campaign, Tinubu mocked him for focusing on statistics. At a campaign rally in Delta State, Tinubu questioned the use of figures and said he was only concerned with putting food on Nigerians’ tables, not quoting data.

Now, Obi says it is ironic that President Tinubu, who once rejected statistics, is now relying heavily on them—but not the right ones. He claims the unemployment rate, inflation figures, and newly adjusted GDP numbers are being misrepresented to make the economy seem stronger than it really is.

Obi pointed out that despite all the numbers being presented by the government, millions of Nigerians are still hungry and unsure of where their next meal will come from. He added that Nigeria is now ranked as one of the hungriest countries in the world, which directly contradicts the government’s optimistic reports.

He believes that using false figures to manage public perception is dangerous. In his view, what the country truly needs is honest leadership—one that is built on character, competence, and compassion. Obi emphasized that running a government is not about playing games or making guesses. It requires sincere commitment to solving real problems and improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
