People living in Yanshuni village, located in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, have paid ₦7.5 million to a bandit leader named Kwashen-garwa. This payment is part of a ₦15 million tax the bandits forced them to pay.
This disturbing information was shared by a security expert known as Bakatsine. He posted the details on the social media platform X on Sunday night.
According to the report, the money was paid on Saturday evening while the villagers were holding a protest along the Bakori–Funtua road. The protest highlighted the suffering of the people due to constant attacks and demands from criminals.
Bakatsine explained that the bandit leader had asked the villagers to pay ₦15 million as tax. So far, they have paid half of the amount, and they are expected to pay the remaining ₦7.5 million after the harvest season.
