There is growing fear and sadness in Ipetumodu, a town in Osun State, after a farmer named Akeem Jimoh was found dead on his farmland. The land is located at the border between Ipetumodu and another town called Asipa.
Akeem reportedly left home around 7 a.m. on Thursday to work on his farm, but he never returned. By noon, disturbing news started to spread that something bad had happened to him.
A family member, who chose not to be named for safety reasons, said that the local security group, Amotekun Corps, was informed immediately after Akeem didn’t return. The group quickly organized a search party.
Around 12:30 p.m., Amotekun officers sadly found Akeem’s body. The spot was near the boundary between Ipetumodu and Asipa. His family and neighbors were heartbroken and angry over the shocking discovery.
The body was then taken to the police station in Ipetumodu. Many people from the community gathered and were visibly upset, demanding justice. Security officers were called in to calm the crowd and promised that they would find the killers.
The police spokesperson in Osun State, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that Akeem had been stabbed. He also said some people are already being suspected, although no arrests have been made yet.
He assured the public that the case has been handed over to a higher unit for deeper investigation. The police are working hard to track down those behind the murder and bring them to justice.
