Nigerian music star, Ayra Starr, says choosing Rihanna as her musical role model was one of the best decisions she ever made.
In a chat with ETalk TV, the “Rush” singer called Rihanna a wonderful person and someone young artists like her can look up to.
Ayra remembered the first time she met Rihanna. She was shocked to find out that the billionaire singer actually listens to her music.
But what made the moment even more special was the fact that Rihanna told her she’s a fan. For Ayra, that meant a lot — knowing that her favorite artist also happens to love her music too.
“Meeting her still feels like a dream,” Ayra said. “I know people always say you shouldn’t meet your idols, but I’m so glad I met mine. Rihanna is such a kind and amazing person. And the fact that she loves my music — it means everything. I’m my favorite artist’s favorite artist!”
She went on to say that Rihanna is not just a great singer, but also a strong woman and a role model. Anytime she’s around Rihanna, Ayra admits she gets so nervous that she ends up making silly jokes.
Looking ahead, the Nigerian star says she hopes to collaborate with Rihanna on a song in the future.
