Arsenal are getting ready to sign English winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea for a fee of £52 million. The deal is nearly done, with both clubs reaching an agreement.
The 23-year-old winger trained with his Chelsea teammates in New York on Thursday morning. They are preparing for their Club World Cup final against PSG, which takes place on Sunday.
However, Madueke is now unlikely to be part of the squad for that match. His move to Arsenal is almost complete, with both clubs having agreed on the terms of the transfer.
Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Madueke for a five-year contract. There were no issues with reaching a deal on his wages or contract length.
Madueke played a major role for Chelsea last season. He was even in the starting lineup during their Conference League final victory against Real Betis.
He has also played in the ongoing Club World Cup, but only came on as a substitute in their semi-final match against Fluminense. Reports suggest Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, had doubts about Madueke’s full focus, which may be due to the ongoing transfer talks with Arsenal.
