Arsenal complete £12m signing of Brentford captain Christian Norgaard

Arsenal have completed the signing of Christian Norgaard, who was captain of Brentford, in a deal worth £12 million.

The club will first pay £10 million for the Danish midfielder, with an extra £2 million to come later in performance-based payments, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners confirmed the transfer on Thursday morning. The move makes Norgaard the latest addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer.

After the announcement, Arteta expressed his excitement about the deal. He said Arsenal is happy to welcome Christian, who brings plenty of Premier League experience and leadership.

Arteta also praised Norgaard’s abilities, describing him as a smart and versatile midfielder with physical strength and tactical skills. He believes the player will add balance and strength to the team.

He added that Norgaard will be a big help both during matches and in the dressing room, and the team is excited to begin working with him.

Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, also spoke highly of Norgaard. He said the midfielder has been one of the top performers in the Premier League and has many useful qualities.

Berta said Norgaard is a smart and flexible player who can help the team in many ways. He added that the club is happy to have him join.

Norgaard is Arsenal’s third signing this summer. Before him, they brought in Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £60 million and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for £5 million.
