Mbappe drops harassment complaint against PSG

Kylian Mbappé has officially decided to stop his legal complaint against his former team, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). His lawyer, Pierre-Olivier Sur, told AFP about the decision on Monday, July 7.

Mbappé’s lawyer confirmed that they were pulling back from the case just a few days before Real Madrid—Mbappé’s current club—will play against PSG in the Club World Cup semi-final this Wednesday.

The complaint was originally filed after Mbappé said PSG treated him unfairly at the start of the 2023–24 season. He claimed the club isolated him and made him train away from the main team because he refused to sign a new contract.

This kind of treatment has happened to other players too. In fact, the French footballers’ union also filed a complaint about similar issues back in 2023.

Mbappé was not allowed to go on PSG’s pre-season tour to Asia and also missed the first Ligue 1 match of that season. But after further talks with the club, he was later brought back into the main squad.

The French striker left PSG in the summer of 2024 to join Real Madrid, ending his seven-year stay where he scored 256 goals in 308 games. Interestingly, PSG won their first-ever Champions League title after he left.

Even though the harassment case has been dropped, Mbappé still has another legal issue with PSG. He claims the club owes him about €55 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses. That matter is still being handled in court.
