A 19-year-old boy in Zimbabwe has been arrested for trying to sell a human foetus, claiming it was beef. The incident happened in the busy streets of Harare, and police stepped in after someone reported his strange behaviour.
The police, through their official X (formerly Twitter) account, explained what happened. They said the suspect, named Stelly Marecha, found the foetus inside a trash bin near Mbuya Nehanda and Albion Streets. He then placed it in a black plastic bag and tried to sell it as meat to a 27-year-old man.
In their post, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the teenager had been arrested for tampering with a human body. They said Marecha had picked the foetus from the trash and claimed it was beef when trying to sell it.
The police are now trying to find out where the foetus came from. They’ve asked the public to help with any information that can lead to the arrest of the person who dumped the foetus in the bin.
After the news broke, people on social media were shocked and angry. Many Zimbabweans talked about the dangers of buying meat from unknown sellers. Others made sarcastic comments online, calling the act “boiled witchcraft.”
