Super Eagles coach, Chelle names squad for CHAN 2025

Super Eagles B team coach, Eric Chelle, has announced a 35-man provisional squad for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The squad is made up of players who play in Nigeria’s local football league.

The CHAN tournament is different from the usual African Cup of Nations because only footballers who play in their home countries can participate. This means foreign-based players are not allowed. The 2025 edition will be held in August and will take place across three countries — Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team is placed in Group D, along with Senegal (the defending champions), Sudan, and Congo. In total, 19 countries will take part in the competition.

Coach Chelle’s 35-man list includes goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and attackers from various clubs in the Nigerian league.

Goalkeepers:
Henry Ani, Lawal Mustapha, Ebenezer Harcourt, Kayode Bankole, and Nurudeen Badmus.

Defenders:
Bankole Afeez, Taiwo Abdulrafiu, Uzondu Harrison, Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojewole, Ngengen Leonard, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Stephen Manyo Egbe, Junior Nduka, and Mohammed Kabiru.

Midfielders:
Saviour Isaac, Musa Zayyad, Haddi Haruna, Adebayo Olamilekan, Adejoh Ojonugwa, Otaniyi Taofik, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Adam Aminu, and Michael Tochukwu.

Attackers:
Shola Adelani, Sikiru Alimi, Temitope Vincent, Ijoma Anthony, Anas Yusuf, Adamu Abubakar, Atule Joseph, Ayomide Cole, Sunday Megwo, Aniekeme Okon, and Godwin Obaje.

The team will begin preparations ahead of the tournament as they aim to lift the CHAN trophy and bring glory to Nigeria.
