Why Wike cannot join APC – Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, the well-known media figure and publisher of Ovation International Magazine, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is unlikely to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, Wike would lose his political power if he defected.

Speaking during a live appearance on Arise TV on Wednesday night, Momodu shared his opinion on Wike’s political situation and state of mind.

Momodu explained that Wike has been bitter since he lost both the PDP’s presidential and vice-presidential tickets. He noted that the former Rivers State governor has struggled emotionally with the outcome.

He said, “Every time I talk about Wike, I mention how bitter he became after losing both positions. It’s like he hasn’t been able to get over it. He holds on to that anger and doesn’t forgive easily.”

Momodu then challenged Wike to actually leave the PDP if he could. According to him, Wike knows that he’s only powerful because of his position within the PDP.

He went on to say, “If President Tinubu is backing you, yes, you may have some strength. But let’s see Wike move to APC. Let him try it.”

Momodu recalled how Tinubu once welcomed Wike to join APC, but Wike didn’t take the offer. He believes Wike would rather stay in the PDP where he holds more influence.

In his words, “For Wike, it’s better to be in charge of a weaker party than to play a smaller role in a stronger one. That’s why he prefers to remain a major figure in PDP than to serve under others in APC.”
