Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said he won’t reveal the details of the peace agreement he recently reached with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike made this statement on Thursday during a media chat held at his home in Abuja. He firmly said he prefers to keep the details of the deal private.
“I will allow you to speculate, it’s not my business. All I know is that peace has come. If you are not satisfied with that, there is nothing we can do. What is important is that peace has returned, whatever thing anybody says is not my business,” he said.
According to Wike, he would rather allow people to make guesses about the agreement than speak openly about what was discussed or agreed upon.
This development comes after President Bola Tinubu brought Wike, Fubara, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly together for a peace meeting. The meeting, held last month, was meant to resolve the political crisis rocking the state.
Earlier in March 2025, President Tinubu had suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and several lawmakers following a serious and long-lasting political conflict in the oil-rich state of Rivers.
Although the peace meeting signaled a move toward reconciliation, Wike’s refusal to speak further about it has left many Nigerians wondering what really happened behind closed doors.
