Angelique Kidjo to become first African artist to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Grammy-winning singer Angelique Kidjo is about to make history as the first African artist to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This big achievement puts her in a special place in the world of entertainment, showing how far African music has come.

She was named one of the people who will be honoured in 2026. The announcement was made by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which picks famous entertainers from around the world each year to receive stars.

Angelique will be receiving her star alongside other well-known celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Shaquille O’Neal, Lea Salonga, Marion Cotillard, Deepika Padukone, Emily Blunt, and Rachel McAdams.

The exact dates for the ceremonies haven’t been announced yet. However, those who made the list are expected to choose when they want their event to happen within the next two years.

This honour is a proud moment not just for Angelique Kidjo, but for the whole African continent.
